Taking place on Friday, June 5, 2026, in Nanaimo BC, This special event invites members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and their allies to come together for an evening of movement, music, and connection in a welcoming and inclusive space.
The evening will begin with beginner-friendly salsa lessons led by SDN’s own master instructor Alejandro Zurita, designed to make salsa/bachata & merengue dance accessible for first-time dancers and anyone curious to try something new. No dance partner or previous dance experience is required. Lead, Follow, Solo or Switch – dance your way. Following the lesson, participants can enjoy a lively social dance atmosphere with music and lights by Vancouver Island’s hottest Latin DJ Pachanga Latina (DJ Moses).
This event is designed as a safe and supportive environment that centres the LGBTQIA2S+ community while remaining open to all. Organizers aim to create a space where people can feel comfortable expressing themselves, meeting others, and celebrating community through cultural movement and dance.
As part of this gathering, we respectfully acknowledge that we are gathering and dancing on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. We honour their enduring connection to this land and recognize the importance of coming together in a good way, with respect, care, and community spirit.
