Photo Tours during the Herring Spawn

March 11 @ 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Event Series (See All)
$612

Book a tour with a professional photographer during the herring spawn and get your best images!

At the end of winter, Pacific herrings congregate in mass to spawn on eelgrass in shallow waters on the coast of Vancouver Island. This spectacular annual event attracts a lot of wildlife such as sea lions, seals, bald eagles, ducks, river otters, minks… Orcas and humpback whales can be seen from the shore. Join Catherine Babault, a professional wildlife photographer based in Courtenay, for a tour designed for photographers of all skill levels.

Forget about sea sickness! The tour is given on land, not on a boat, so it will not be cancelled because of a rough sea and choppy waters. In addition you’ll have plenty of room for yourself and your tripod. Being on a stable ground also means sharper images and lower shutter speeds. Catherine will help you hone your photo skills, in the field, in the greater region of the Comox Valley.

Group tours are available on March 2, 5, 8, 11 and 13, or ask for a private tour.
Limited to 3 people per tour so book early!
Tours depart from Courtenay early in the morning.
The fee of $612 includes GST (Goods and Services Tax), services of a professional photographer, transportation during the tour, and snacks.
