North Island Writers Conference

The organizers of the North Island Writers Conference are pleased to announce the 9th annual three-day event, beginning Friday, January 16th, at the Courtenay North Island College campus. The keynote speaker is Susan Juby, a faculty member at Vancouver Island University, known for her quirky and comedic characters. The workshops feature sessions by screenplay and short story writer Clair Mulligan and poet Sonner L’Abbe. We are also planning an open short fiction writing contest on Sunday, the 18th.
The three-day event features a Friday night presentation by the keynote speakers. The activities on Saturday and Sunday include three-hour and five-hour workshops covering various craft topics, such as character development, poetry, short stories, editing, memoir, self-publishing, research, marketing, presentation skills, and audiobooks. Attendees can personalize their experience by registering for individual sessions.
