David Gogo– A Night of the Blues Fundraising Concert

Courtenay Fundraiser Features David Gogo, Award-Winning Blues Musician
Courtenay, BC – It’s time to boogie with blues artist extraordinaire, David Gogo, at a fundraising concert on March 6, 7pm.
The concert will raise money for the Comox Valley Food Bank and St. George’s United Church. Tickets are $25 in advance at Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/a-night-of-blues-with-david-gogo-tickets-1981461443517?aff=oddtdtcreator) or at Laughing Oyster Bookstore. Or, they are $30 at the door.
Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable donations for the Comox Valley Foodbank, as well; there will be a collection box at the door.
David Gogo, a Nanaimo native, was recently nominated for two Canadian Blues Awards (as of Jan 2026). He has six JUNO award nominations and been named Guitarist of the Year three times at the Maple Blues Awards, was named Musician of the Year at the West Coast Music Awards, and won Blues Recording of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards. He also received the Great Canadian Blues Award for his lifetime contribution to the blues in Canada, as voted by the listeners of CBC’s Saturday Night Blues.
St. George’s raises funds through a variety of events during the year to benefit local non-profits. In 2023, they started a fundraising concert series, “Concerts for the Common Good” to benefit a variety of non-profits chosen by the performers. Some of the charities include: L’Arche, Comox Valley Child Development Association, CYMC, Habitat for Humanity, LUSH, the Transition Society, and many others.
St. George’s has donated more than $60,000 since 2023 to area non-profits through these concerts and other fundraising events.
Located in the heart of downtown Courtenay at 505 6th Street, St. George’s United Church is a spiritually vibrant, inclusive, justice-seeking community of faith that has been changing lives in the Comox Valley for over a century. Its vision is to be a Christian Church that is a beacon of God’s love and hope in the community, doing so through unconditional welcome, spiritual transformation, and reaching out in love for the common good.
St. George’s weekly Sunday service is at 10:30 am, followed by a coffee social in the fellowship hall.
Families with young children are very welcome. St. George’s has a diverse group of more than 30 young children who participate in the Children’s Church while their parents and grandparents remain in the main service. www.stgeorgesunited.com. # # #
