Courtenay and District Fish & Game Protective Association BC Family Fishing Weekend

The Courtenay and District Fish & Game Protective Association are happy to welcome everyone to the Annual BC Family Fishing Weekend on 14 June 9am to 3pm and 15 June from 9am to 2pm (Father’s Day weekend). Bring your rod and the pond will be stocked with a trout donation from the BC Freshwater Fisheries Society.
Thrifty Foods, always a great supporter of CDFGPA and family events, will be providing free hot dogs and refreshments on the Sunday ONLY from 11am to 1pm for the anglers.
This is the weekend to enjoy time outdoors with family or friends and discover a great pastime. You do not have to buy a licence to fish in most of BC’s lakes and streams compliments of the BC provincial government for this weekend. There are many events held province wide, similar to the Courtenay and District Fish and Game venue, where volunteers will be available to offer any assistance or fishing gear, and bait to those who have none.
We ask for your co-operation in that dogs (other than certified) be left at home please. There is a lot of activity around the pond, with lots of children and hot weather expected. No animals should be left in vehicles either.
Not everyone will catch a fish. It is about spending time with family, listening to a child’s questions and laughter, helping a fellow fisherman untangle a line, and just being in the great outdoors!
